Original Trilogy Era Explodes into Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge

Batuu is about to get much more familiar. For years, Black Spire Outpost remained rooted in the sequel era. This period sat between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. That is finally changing. Disneyland just dropped a massive update. Starting April 29, 2026, Galaxy’s Edge is “unlocking” its timeline. The land will finally welcome heroes from the Original Trilogy!

This change is a major paradigm shift. Imagine walking through the market as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia stride past. Han Solo will also roam the streets. These legends are not just static meet-and-greets. They will be roaming characters in the heart of the Outpost. You might see Luke seeking kyber crystals or Leia rallying new recruits. Han will likely stay near the Falcon or the cantina.

The Emperor’s Fist: Vader’s Arrival

The terrifying presence of Darth Vader is also descending upon Batuu. Accompanied by Stormtroopers, the Sith Lord will stalk the pathways. His mission is to find Luke Skywalker. This shift means Kylo Ren will be relocating. He is moving to the Star Wars Launch Bay for a Disney Visa experience. The First Order’s grip is loosening to make way for the Empire.

The immersion extends to the very air of Batuu. For the first time, John Williams’ legendary scores will fill the land. The soaring “Main Title” and “The Force Theme” will play throughout the area. These motifs will cement the Outpost as a true crossroads of the saga.

Mandalorian Missions and California Exclusives

Beyond the classics, the expansion embraces the New Republic era. On May 22, 2026, Smugglers Run will receive a new mission. This adventure features The Mandalorian and Grogu. It is timed perfectly with their upcoming theatrical film. Galaxy’s Edge is becoming the ultimate Star Wars melting pot.

These changes are currently exclusive to Disneyland Park in California. Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios will remain unchanged for now. Prepare your hyperdrives for a visit to the West Coast!
